In the beginning of last week, Amigo was involved

In the beginning of last week, Amigo was involved in a serious accident. For unknown reason, he ran straight through the fence in his pasture, out on a trafficked road.

He's never(!) done anything similar before, so we assume he got scared by something and panicked..

Amigo suffered severe wounds in several places on his body, and walked partly on three legs when he was captured.

A veterinarian was called immediately to the stable, but couldn't do nothing more than provide pain relief and try to put bandages at his worst injuries. He was instead transported to the equine hospital, Ultuna, where they have better conditions to take care of such serious cases.

We've done everything possible to save him, but after six days at the equine hospital his condition continued to get worse, and the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep had to be made. 😰

An autopsy will be performed to find out what made his condition so bad, besides the obvious issues due to his deep wounds. We assume some kind of internal damages from the accident, which they weren't able to locate when he was alive.

I'm thankful for all the professional veterinarians at Ultuna, who did everything they could to save Amigos life. We ended up with almost €8 000 in veterinary expenses, but unfortunately it didn't work out despite our greatest efforts. Nothing more could be done to help him.

This is a very, very sad day.. I'm devastated. It wasn't supposed to end this way.

This morning I got a phonecall from abroad. Very unexpectedly from the family that bred Maggie, who had searched 🔎 for her the last couple of years without results. Until today.

.. So, what's Maggies story then?

As a foal, she was a very loved family member at the breeders place. She had a really good childhood and was predicted a bright future.

Until the age of 3, Maggie had a great life and was seen as a very promising prospect as a future competition horse. Totally healthy and with clean X-rays.

She was therefore sold from the breeder to be backed professionally. For circumstances I'm not going to mention (for legal reasons), she were later sold a couple of times more and unfortunately experienced some very bad situations during that time.

The things Maggie apparently had to put up with, and the way she was both ridden and handled, is nothing any horse ever should have to experience. 💔 She's been both beated and emaciated..

Somehow she later on made her way to Norway. What happened there - of if she ever entered Norway - we can't tell for sure, since she soon after that ended up at a riding school here in Sweden.

As you already know, riding school wasn't suitable for this sweet mare and after being long-term injured I welcomed Maggie to our stable in the middle of January this year.

Maggie went through hell and back, even though she's only 8 yrs old. She's definitely the most difficult horse I've ever ridden. At the same time, those days feels so far away now..

The horse I'm lucky enough to have the honor to own today, is my best friend. I trust her completely. I'm her human, and she's my horse. 🥺💘

Now when I know her entire life story, besides some smaller gaps - I'm glad that I already a couple of months ago made the decision to keep her. The rest of her life, no matter how long it might be, will be filled with good experiences, love and happiness.

Indie is really "one of a kind". 🖤

We've been working a lot from the ground with our Equiband from @horseequestrian.se, to build her up correctly from the beginning. She still lacks lots of muscles, but I'm pleased with her progress so far.

I've used the Equiband at lots of horses (+10) the past six months, and I'm really pleased with the results. Especially at the horses with kissing spines, I've seen a significant difference after only a couple of weeks.

Some horses needed more time to accept the Equiband than others, but all of them have learnt to work with it in a healthy, sustainable way.

Tillbaka på Wången idag för att gå tilläggsutbildningen! Så jag förhoppningsvis blir godkänd av Jordbruksverket. Ägnar kvällen åt att öva på att dra kappor för frakturbeslag.

Skodde en vacker PRE-hingst idag, hos en ny kund. Hästen har tidigare haft bekymmer med tappskor, så vi skodde därför med flap-sulor samt vanlig sko med tåkappa.

Förhoppningsvis ska skorna sitta bättre framöver - annars får vi ändra strategi. Finns en del att jobba med på dessa hovar, men på sikt kommer det nog bli jättebra. 🐴👍🏻

Från en process med plastning av trasig hovvägg. 😊 Om hovväggen har gått sönder (av något skäl) så pass att det inte finns något att spika i, kan man behöva plasta - precis som i det här fallet. Den här gången var det en tappsko som var orsaken.
